Ashlyn is here!

I decided to be induced on March 2nd. I was trying to do the whole thing natural but for some reason I don't think my body knows how to go into labor. I had lots of contractions, 2 and a half weeks before they induced me and they did not feel like Braxton Hicks's. There was one day I had contractions from 6 am until 2 am the next morning. I didn't go even a whole 10 minutes that day without a contraction. I had a doctor's appointment that day, they had put me on a monitor and they did an ultrasound. They wanted to see how the baby was handling the contractions. They told me that they thought I was going into labor and that they would probably see me that night or the next day. I had many other contractions after that day but they were never consistent. I even had a couple more times that it seemed I was going into labor. One was on Feb. 29th, I was having contractions 2 to 3 minutes apart and they were pretty intense. That went on from 11 pm until 5 am the next morning. Once again I thought I was going into labor but it didn't happen. At my next doctor's appointment I talked to my doctor about it. She asked me if I wanted to be induced to put me out of my misery. I decided to go a head with it. My whole body was hurting. It felt like someone pressing on a bruise when Ashlyn would move. Not to mention, I was worried about her. Like I said, I don't think my body knows how to go into labor. I had to be put on pitocin when I had Ayla because my contractions were not consistent. The Nurses at the time were shocked that I was so far a long without having consistent contractions. This time it just felt like my body was confused.

I delivered at LDS hospital.
My mom and I showed up at the hospital at 8 am. Kurt stayed home to get a little more shut eye. Kurt has needed as much sleep as possible lately because he has been having a lot of migraines. We knew it would be a while before they actually got me started and we wanted him to enjoy the birth.

Here is a before picture of me standing by the bassinet!

Shortly after they broke my water and put me on pitocin, Kurt and Ayla showed up!
It was perfect timing! I was so excited to see them and to have them there!

I did really well for most of the day. You are supposed breath through the contractions with just your nose but my sinuses have been swollen almost the entire pregnancy. It has always made it hard to breath. They had to put oxygen on me to help me and the baby get the air we needed. I had my mom take this picture. I was laughing and said, "Put this on Facebook!" I was so sure I was going to have her natural. I was doing so well and I went really far. I made it until I was 8 centimeters dilated. By that time Ashlyn was down in the pelvic area and the contractions got really intense. I lost my concentration for just one second and I tensed up. It was all over after that. Every contraction after that seem to get worse, so I asked for the epidural. I don't feel like a failure. I am very proud of myself that I made it that far. Not to mention, those contractions were so intense that I didn't feel bad at all about getting the epidural. After, I got the epidural, they turned off the pitocin and my body finally took over. I then had her within an hour. Kurt and I were the only ones in the room with the nurses and the doctor.

Ayla was the first to come in the room followed by my mom. Ayla was so excited, she wanted to hold her right away.

Here is a picture of her holding her for the first time.
As they transfered me to the postpartum unite, Ayla walked beside my bed so she could see her little sister, I was holding. It was so cute!

Ayla wanted to hold her every second!

Here she is after they gave her a bath.

Proud to be a big sister!

Proud Daddy!

So precious!
The look on Ayla's face in this picture is so priceless to me!

Laying down with Daddy for a little while!

Daddy dressing her to go home!
This is the same outfit Ayla came home in. I thought it would be sweet to bring her home in the same outfit!

First time in her new car seat!
I love the beanie they gave her at the hospital! I guess a women makes them and ties different colors on the top to go with the month the baby is born in. Ashlyn's is green!

Ayla was so excited when we came home!

She went and got her baby and put it with Ashlyn!
Can you tell which baby is the real baby?

Ayla drew a picture of Ashlyn!

Every where we put Ashlyn, Ayla had to be right by her.
Notice the little chick? Ayla put in the car seat with her!

Like I said, Ayla loves to hold her!

She drew another picture of Ashlyn!
This is one of her as a baby. If you click on the picture and make it bigger, you can see the lips and the hands she drew. I love them!

Ashlyn in the bouncing chair!

Then Ayla drew a picture of Ashlyn when she grows up!

This is a sweet picture of her looking up at her Daddy!

Ashlyn has been such a blessing addition to our family! She brings us all such joy! I love how Ayla has taken to her. Every morning since we brought her home, Ayla comes and sees her little sister the moment she wakes up, even before she goes to the bathroom. She also tries to bring her something as she comes to see her. This morning, I told her the first thing I need to do is change Ashlyn's diaper. I came out into the living room and Ayla had the changing pad out, she got some wipes out and got out a diaper. Ayla loves help me out with her little sister in any way she can. We have her comb Ashlyn's hair every day to avoid cradle cap. I have her help me keep Ashlyn stay awake during feedings. I can tell it makes Ayla feel important and she feels like her little sister needs her.

I am such a proud mom of my two girls! I love the so much!
