How big is that cake?

Yesterday was my niece, Brooke's birthday, so I spent most of the day doing her cake. She loves Pokemon, so that is what she got. The cake took me a total of 8 hours because Ayla was so needy. If Ayla hadn't needed me it would have taken maybe 5 hours instead. I feel so bad holding her off too long. I let her cry for a while but after about 15 minutes, I feel so bad and can't take it anymore.  I don't think I want to do speciality cakes like this unless I have someone to watch her while I do it from now on or until she is a little older. I think I will have more help once Kurt is out of school this Spring. Yay!!!

Well here is the cake. You can't tell in this picture how big it was but it was pretty big. It took 4 cake mixes, 3 canned frostings and I made 4 batches of frosting.

If you click on the picture, you can see the different Pokemon characters on the cake.

This kind of helps to show how large it was. I am surprised that my face doesn't look like I am in pain. It had to have weighed 50 pounds, not kidding. It was so hard to hold for as long as I did. The camera wasn't working for a little while but Kurt finally got it to take the picture.

Here is the happy birthday girl and her little friend. She is the one in the grey sweater and the crown. They came with her parents to pick up the cake and then they headed to Bouncing Off the Walls. Her mother invited Brooke's whole class from school and that is why the cake had to be so big. Ayla and I would have gone too but I still want to keep Ayla home to keep trying to make her better. She is getting better but I don't think I will take her out of the house until Saturday and I am not even sure about that.

Anyway, Brooke loved her cake and that made all the time all worth it. I hope she had a wonderful birthday. I love you Brooke.
