Last Monday, over a week ago now, Ayla turned 23 months. I took some pictures of her that day but I couldn't decide which one to put on so I put 4 of them on.
I love how she is looking down in this one.
Looking up this time.
I think she looks beautiful in this one.
She still weighs 22 lbs and is 33 and half inches tall. So she is tall and skinny. She has only grown a half an inch in her last month.
Luckily her doctor told us to turn her car seat around. Ayla was pretty happy about that and so were we.
Other things that Ayla started to do in her 22nd month are:
She started to do somersaults.
She now sleeps with her stuffed animal giraffe named Melmen from "Madagascar." One of the nights, when we put her to bed during her 22nd month, she said, "Night, Night." It melted Kurt's and my heart. She hasn't said it since.
She received two books for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa Perry that has taught her a lot.
The first book is. "The BIG Blue Book of Beginner Books."
This book has 6 really cute stories in it. She has learned shapes and colors and how to say a few things from this book. She loves to say, "Go, Dog, Go." That is actually one of the titles of one of the stories in the book.
This is the other book.
It is a look and find book of Disney princesses. She has learned how to identify objects and animals. She has even learned the difference in appearance of boys and girls. She usually makes us go through this book with her Snow White Barbie doll. We act like Snow White is doing all the talking and playing with her. She loves Snow White. It is so cute!
Some of the other stuff she has learned in her 22nd month are:
*How to do actions to songs. She likes "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree" (that one is her favorite), "Head Shoulders Knee and Toes" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider." She tries to do the Itsy Bitsy Spider on you. She crawls up your arm with her hand*
*She started singing, making up her own songs. The other day she was singing a song about Snow White while she was making her Snow White Barbie dance.*
*She started to clean up her room. She can be really tidy sometimes.*
*She had learned a lot of words that month. I tried to keep track but she tries to say everything you ask her to say. She says bread a lot. She also has started to say little phrases like, "Let's go" and "Let go!" She also says, "Where's go!"
*She was able to play in the snow for her first time.*
I am so grateful for this blog. It helps me keep a record of how she grows and all the things she has learned.
Speaking of Ayla growing and learning:
She no longer wants to sit in her high-chair. She wants to sit at the table like a big girl.
She is finally getting to use the chair I bought from the D.I., over a year ago for $4.
And she is starting to climb gates and jump in her crib. So it was time to set up the toddler bed I bought her. I bought it back in June of last year off of KSL for $25. I love KSL. That is how we found our house we are renting.
My dad helped me get the toddler bed over to our house. We had to take it apart because it was missing a board in the frame where it holds the mattress up. We went to Lowe's and bought the parts for $4. My dad used his skills and made a board with pegs in it to replace the missing board. Thanks dad for your help!
So we said our last good-byes to the crib. I was so sad. My baby is growing up too fast. :(
And here is the bed!
She did great the first night. The second night, I had to sleep in her room but last night she did great again. We will get used to it.
Ayla is so loving the bed.
Happy girl!
She will go into her room and shut the door. One time when I went in to go check on her this is what I found:
Her reading to her kitty.
So cute!
She loves that she can get in and out of it on her own. She likes being a big girl. She is so funny! When I come into her room and leave the door open. She will yell "DOOR!" as in, "shut the door."
She loves to hang out on her bed.
And put every toy that is down on her bed.
Here it is with the room cleaned.
She got this Princess blanket for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa Perry. It fits perfectly with her Princess tent she has in her room. Her room is becoming a Princess room as it should. She is a princess.
But the bed doesn't stay made for long.
She loves to climb into it.
I love being able to stay home every day with her and get to see her grow and learn. There is nothing better than being her mother. I love you Ayla!

What a cutie! It's so bittersweet to see your kids grow up!
She is such a cutie! Getting so big. Go Dog Go was our favorite books as kids and to this day we always say to each other, "I like that party hat!" LOL
Heather - what an angel! She is so beautiful and sweet...and now she is in a toddler bed. It's true, time does go by way too fast!
It seems like all of us here in blogland have gotten to watch Ayla grow up. She is a beauty and she is sure not a baby anymore.
