Ayla on the couch.

Ayla loves to be on the couch. She has discovered that she can stand on her own if she leans against the arm of the couch. Now she loves to always stand up. I thought I would take some pictures today after church, of her on the couch. I also wanted to take pictures of her in my favorite dress of hers. It is my favorite, one, because it is pink and, two, it was given to her from her aunt Marion.

Ayla has learned about the camera. She always starts smiling when I bring it out. She turned towards me as soon as I held up the camera and she started to get excited.

Ayla just leaning on the couch.

I guess she got a little tired, so she crouched down.

I then situated her to sit up.

"Where's Ayla?"

"There she is!"
Yes, we have started to play "peek a boo" with Ayla. The cutest thing is she started to pull the burping cloth back up to cover her face. She plays it back. Sorry the pictures of "pee a boo" are so blury but I kept taking them and she was moving too fast.

Since Ayla has mastered rolling onto her stomach, she now is putting her bottom in the air and is starting to scoot. She scooted about 2 feet the other day. I was amazed. It wont be long until she starts crawling.

She has been putting her bottom up so much. She does it in her sleep. LOL!

Ayla is 6 months!

WOW, 6 months already! Where does the time go?
Ayla turned 6 months on Monday the 25th. She had her wellness check up on Tuesday. I wanted to post this earlier, but Kurt was reformatting the computer so I had to wait a day and then I got real busy with taking our laundry out to my parents and trying to get things done around the apartment. Plus, I am really into "Eclipse", so when I get a chance to settle down, I want to read. Anyways, the exciting thing is, Ayla is doing well. She is growing at a great pace. She weighs 14 lbs. and is 26 inches long.

Of course, she had her shots on Tuesday. This picture was not taken that day. I just thought it was appropriate for the occasion. It expresses how she feels and how I feel about her getting her shots. She did really well this time and so did I. I didn't cry this time. The first time she got her shots. I almost left the room, but then thought about her and how she needed me. When they took her away from me and put her on the table. I was balling. I said, "I feel like I am throwing her to the wolves!" The nurse said , "You are!" It was so hard to watch, because Ayla was lying there looking around with a smile on her face and had no idea what was coming to her. After her shots, she was crying so bad, the worst I had heard her so far. I picked her up and we cried together. She was so upset. She puked all over me. Poor thing. That night she cried all night because one of the shots was almost in her hip instead of her leg, so she was in a lot of paine. Needless to say, her first shots was not a pleasant experience. At her 4 month, I was not looking forward to her shots because of the first experience. I was crying again when I "threw her to the wolves" again. She did much better the second time. This time was a little more easier for me because of the second time was not that bad. Of course she still cried, but I picked her up and bounced her around to clam her down. She was a little bit whiney that night but not too bad. We still had to give her Tylenol, because she did seem to be in some pain.

Here is a picture of one of the band aids they put on her. "Bugs Bunny." I love her little chubby legs and her tiny ankles. I think they are too cute. It was kind of nice this time, I didn't need to take the band aids off. She did it herself. She would look down and grab it and tear it off. It didn't seem to bother her. The first couple of times, I had to soak her in her tub, to get the band aids off because they were so stuck to her.

She did seem pretty happy in between whines. She did great!

Of course, she was exhausted, but we made it through another day of shots.

On another note, Kurt finally gave birth to his sharp kidney stone. On Thursday the 28th at 5:57 a.m. What a relief!

Look at the thing! It is so pointy! OUCH!
I am so glad to have both of these over!

Happy Birthday Shaylynn!

Today is Shaylynn's birthday. She turned 13 today. I can't believe how time flies. Her mother and I have been friends for about 17 years, so I have seen Shaylynn grow up. The picture I used is one of her and her brother Cody. I thought it was appropriate because they are really close. Below are the 5 top reasons why I love Shaylynn.

#5-She is always smiling when I see her.

#4-I am so proud of her having her own babysitting jobs. She is so mature for her age. She saves the money she makes to buy herself the things she wants. She is responsible. She has always helped her mother with Cody. She is such a good kid.

#3- I love all the memories of me watching her. I will have to post some of her adorable baby pictures sometime. I still need a scanner for that.

#2-I love always spending time with her, whether it be at lunch with her mother or times that I have taken her to a movie or just spent the day with her.

The #1 reason I love her is that she loves me. I will always remember when I got married and she said, "She can't get married! She will have kids and forget about me!" Shaylynn I wont forget about you. I love you and Happy Birthday!

What a great birthday!

My birthday was this last Saturday August the 23rd. I felt so loved by everyone. Friday evening my family had a BBQ for my uncle and me because of our birthdays. I took a lot of pictures but for some reason the focus on my camera was bad, so I didn't post too many from the BBQ.

My mom baked this cake and my sister decorated it with frosting that comes in a can. I think they did a great job. I loved it. I thought it was cute. Go mom on picking pink! I love brown and pink together. My mother also made me potato salad. I love her potato salad. I had her make it for our wedding. I always have her make it for special occasions. I felt loved that she made it for me for my birthday without even asking. I love you mom!

Even this picture is a bit blurry, but I wanted to post it because I thought it was too cute. Ayla is wearing Marion's boyfriend, Monty's hat.

Marion and Monty got me a pair of 10k white gold with cubic zirconium earrings. Aren't they beautiful? I had to put the gift bag in the picture because I thought it was so cute. It says. "I hope your birthday is a real wiener!" LOL! Marion picked it out. My parents gave me a card and some money. Thanks family!

After I got home that evening I was looking at my friend Ann's blog and she had made a post about my birthday. I felt so loved by her. It was so sweet what she had posted about me. Plus the comments that people put were so nice. It is her flash back Friday post on August 22nd. Thanks Ann for the nice birthday present. The best things in life are free.

Saturday morning on my birthday, Kurt watched Ayla while I went to the temple. It was so nice. I hadn't been to the temple since I was still pregnant with Ayla back in February. It was nice to go and share some time with the Lord on my birthday.

I also went into the visitors center on temple square and went to see the Christus statue. I love this statue. I try to see it every Christmas. I love my savior!

For the rest of the day, I got to spend time with my wonderful little family. This picture was taken when Ayla was 3 months. I don't know why I didn't think to take a picture of them on my birthday. Oh well, I love this picture.

Kurt always makes me homemade cards for every occasion. I always look forward to the cards he makes me. They are always so funny to me. Like I said, the best things in life are free. The card says "For your birthday, I wanted to give you something unique so I decided to make you a kidney stone." LOL! If you don't already know from the "Tummy time" post, Kurt has been passing a kidney stone since Thursday.

I love the picture on the inside. This is what I have been doing the past few nights. It says, "It might take a while to get it here though... Happy Birthday! Love, Kurt." LOL! I loved this card and I hope you can see it. If not just click on the picture to enlarge it.

Okay on to the presents, Kurt got me the baby monitor I wanted. Ayla will be going into the other room soon :( , so I wanted it. He also got me the movie "Dan in real life." My friend Leah recommended this movie and I loved it, so I asked for it for my birthday. That was all I asked for and Kurt got me the monitor too. What a sweetie. I love him. He is always so thoughtful.

I also ended up getting my own set of hardback "Twilight" series. It all started on Thursday when Kurt and I went to Smiths to pick up his prescriptions for his paine meds. "Breaking Dawn" was only $13.99 so Kurt bought it for me for my birthday too. Then I went to Costco on Friday and saw "Eclipse" for only $10.89, so I called Kurt and he told me to get it. Another birthday present. Then on my birthday, the money my parents gave me was burning a whole in my pocket so I went to Barns and Noble after the temple and bought "New Moon" with that money. I also bought "Twilight" with some money I had left over from making a couple of cakes. I got all these books before I got the card, monitor and movie. After that I thought "okay I got plenty for my birthday." Can I say, "spoiled!" I love these books. I know I will read them over and over. I don't usually buy books. I'm not even done with them yet. I am still on "Eclipse."

I would just like to thank everyone for your phone calls and acts of kindness you have shown me for my birthday. It really made it a wonderful birthday! I love all of you!!!

Tummy Time

To like it or not to like it? That is the question.

When Ayla was a newborn we were concerned about her getting flat head because she was getting it a little. I tried to give her tummy time but she hated it. She would cry and then she would start to scream. I felt bad so I would pick her up. I held her a lot because I didn't want her to get flat head.

Now Ayla has mastered rolling over only onto her stomach. She has not quiet master rolling back. Every time I put her on the floor or in her bassinet she rolls over. The problem with this is that she is hard to lie down for bed or a nap because she gets frustrated when she can't roll back but she loves rolling over. I don't like the fact that she wants to lay on her stomach now in her bed. The other day she fell asleep and I put her in her bed on her back. I left the room for ten minutes and when I came back to check on her she was asleep on her stomach directly FACE DOWN! I freaked because she didn't look like she was breathing. I thought she was dead and that I was going to have to do CPR. I shook her to wake her up. She didn't respond right away, so I shook her again and she woke up. I felt so relieved and my heart was pumping so fast. I called her pediatrician and she told me not to worry, that Ayla was old enough to be coordinated to turn her head if she couldn't breath. She also told me that if I see her face down again, to turn her head to the side to help her breath so that it would not wake her up. She told me she would be fine. The problem is that I am not fine. I am such a paranoid mother I have to check on her as much as possible while she sleeps to make sure she is okay, so needless to say I am not sleeping very well at night. I wake up a lot in the night and check to see if she is on her stomach. I guess it is not that big of a deal during the day because I can supervise her. At night it is a different story. Last night was extremely hard because not only was I paranoid about Ayla. I was worried about Kurt. He is passing a kidney stone. Yes, I said a kidney stone. It started yesterday around 3pm and he is still trying to pass it. It is so hard to see him in so much pain, so between the two of them, I didn't get much sleep last night.

I guess I am happy that Ayla is finally beginning to like tummy time. On the other hand, I am starting to hate tummy time. Can you blame me or am I just too paranoid?

I had to share this picture of her doing tummy time because she is smiling. Like I said, she is starting to like tummy time.

Happy Birthday Uncle Ernie!

Today is my Uncle Ernie's birthday. Ernie has lived with my parents most of my life so I am really close to him. I just want him to know how much I love him. Down below are my top 5 reasons why I love him.

#5- He is a hard worker and is dedicated to whatever project he is working on. It has been an example to me.

#4- He loves motorcycles and has shared that love with us as a family through talking about his motorcycles and buying motorcycles for us to ride. What a blast! When my siblings and I were young, he bought us kids a little green 70 dirt bike. I would ride that bike all day during the summer in our yard. My parent's yard is pretty good size.

#3- I love how patient and easy going he is. I hardly ever hear him complain.

#2- I love the memories as a child where he would take my siblings and I out for walks or run errands with him. It was fun. We always went to R.C. Willey to pay on his bill. Us kids would go around the store and make believe that certain setups were our rooms, living rooms and kitchens. He also would always take us to get a treat. One of the most memorable ones is the crocodile heads made out of doughnuts and cream. Yummy!

The #1 reason I love my uncle is that he is my uncle and loves to spend time with me.

Happy Birthday Ernie!! I love you!!

By the way, the picture of him above was last September at Disneyland. It was his first time there.

A lot to catch up on.

I have not been keeping up on my blog like I would like to. I have been distracted reading the Twilight books. Yes I am hooked. I love them.

I do want to share some things about Ayla this week. She has tried to master sitting up and rolling over. She is doing great at both. She has also begun to say "La, La, La!" over and over again. She yells it and it is pretty loud. It is adorable. She is starting to talk instead of just cooing. Though she has not said her first word yet, of course.

This weekend was fun. I usually go to breakfast almost every Saturday with my dad, uncle and my sister. So that is how I started my weekend. After that I had a relaxing Saturday. I got to watch the movie "Enchanted." I love that movie. It is so cute. I also got to read a lot that day.

Sunday was great, while we were in Sacrament meeting at church, Kurt was feeding Ayla a bottle. He was holding her head up with his left arm and I was sitting on the left of him. Ayla began to lean back and look up at me. It was so cute. After a while Kurt just handed her to me. He thought she wanted me. I think she was just having fun looking at me. After church we went around visiting Kurt's side of the family. First we went to Suz and Chris's and then we went down to Orem to see Krista's family. So we got to see baby Kurt! Yay! He is too cute. What a great week and weekend.

This is a picture of Ayla I took before we got up to go to breakfast.

My dad sitting at the table at Dee's family restaurant. We usually go to Dee's. A lot of the waitresses know us pretty well. They loved rubbing my belly while I was pregnant. Now they love to see and hold Ayla.

Our uncle Ernie. I love my uncle Ernie. :)

Ayla just waiting to be taken out of the car seat. Such a good baby! :)

This is my dad's best friend Gary. He joined us this time because he was taking my dad to a cabin for the weekend. How fun for my dad! He and my dad have been friends for as long I can remember. I think they were friends before I was born.

I had to post the picture of my sister Marion and Ayla. Too cute!

And of course this one. Ayla hanging out on the table. Once again too cute!

Ayla on her Uncle Chris's lap looking in the mirror. I love visiting family!!

And of course, here is a darling picture of the new addition to the Perry family. Baby Kurt. We love him!!

Last but not least, my handsome hubby holding Baby Kurt!!

Say Cheese!

I wanted to share a picture Kurt took of Ayla for his mother's birthday. Kurt's mom had bought a dress for Ayla way before she was born. So naturally we had to wait until she grew into it to take a picture of her in it. Kurt has been going to school for film and animation. He has learned a lot. This past February he took a lighting class. He had practiced a few times with lights before this picture was taken. We can't afford Kiddie Kandids all the time so he took this picture on our couch. Kurt then added the picture in the corner in Photoshop. Can you believe that the back drop was my robe? Kurt had to photoshop out the lines on the robe so that it would blend. We had the picture printed out at Inkley's so that it would look like it was taken in a studio. When I picked up the pictures, the girls behind the counter were asking where it was taken. I told them "On my couch." They were like, "Wow, it looks like you had it taken in a studio." I am very proud of my hubby. I think he did a wonderful job. I had to share! :)

I love this picture. I think she looks like a ballerina with the poofy dress and her tights. I had one of the pictures printed for us as well.

TWO exciting of a Weekend!

TWO exciting things happened this weekend. I have been wanting to blog about it but have been very busy. First thing's first. Our nephew Kurt was born on Friday. Yes, I said Kurt. He is named after my husband. Kurt's sister, Krista, has always wanted to name her first son after her brother. Kurt was born at 1:58 p.m. weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz. 21 inches on 08-08-08! Lots of 8s! We went down to Provo to see him that day. Below are some adorable pictures of him.

He was upset that uncle Kurt was taking his hat off! Too cute!

Kurt holding baby Kurt.

I also got to hold the new bundle of Joy! Isn't he so cute? We love him!

The second exciting thing that happened this weekend: Ayla started to sit up on her own.

"Hi everybody!"

"Rrr. I will get you my pretty!"

Victory!!!

Cake decorating with the Youth!

This last Tuesday we had Young Women's mutual at my place. We have mutual on Tuesday every week. I love the Young Women's program. It helps the youth feel their shelf worth, value themselves and come to know they are beautiful daughters of God. This mutual turned out better than I thought it would. I taught them about cake decorating. I have been wanting to teach some cake decorating to the youth and have been asked before but had never actually got to do it yet. It was fun for me to show the girls all the cakes I have made. I will posts some sometime. After I showed them all the cakes. I decorated a cake to show them what they were going to do. I also showed them how to use a few tips to make roses, balloons, star flowers and writing on a cake. They each got to decorate their own little cake. They had so much fun and did such a great job!

This is the cake I decorated for them and the one they duplicated. Some of the girls got creative and put what they wanted on their cakes.

Here are the girls and their beautiful cakes! You might want to click on the picture to enlarge it so you can see their works of art.

From left to right starting at the top: Clair, Laura, Hannah, Erin, Ida and Paula.

Great work girls!

Lagoon!

My family and I all went to Lagoon on Saturday. It was too much fun. I now love the new ride called "Wicked." It lives up to it's name. It is so crazy it goes straight up and straight back down. What a rush. I wanted to ride it last year but could not because I was pregnant. I also got to ride this years new ride "Sea Odysea" with my nephew Lane. It is exactly like Dumbo at Disneyland but you get wet on this one. My nephew and I were fighting over the controller. We were trying to get the other one wet. It was so fun. I love riding rides with Lane. He makes it fun. I look forward to when Ayla is around his age. I can wait though. I don't want her to grow up too fast. We had about 19 of us all together including my mom's best friend Val. She was visiting from Kansas. Below are some pictures of that day that I want to share.

My dad Rob, Monty, Marion and Kurt all waiting to ride Wicked. Notice my dad's hair.

My dad's hair after riding Wicked. L.O.L!!!

Ayla with her Daddy and uncle Ernie waiting over by Wicked. Such a happy girl! :)

Marion and my nephew Lane. I can't believe how big he is getting. I love you Lane!!

My mom Chris, her best friend Val and Ayla. I am glad Ayla and Val got to meet!

Mommy and Ayla having a good time!

"Look mom no hands!" This had us all cracking up. Ayla loved playing with this water bottle and she decided to stick it in her mouth and let go. L.O.L!! I love her so much. She is too fun!!
