Sea World visits Kurt's work!

Have I ever mentioned how awesome Kurt's work is? They do a lot of different things for their employee's family and friends. Well, on Thursday, they had some people from Sea World come and bring a few animals so kids can learn about them and get up close and personal with the them. Kurt's work has done this in the past but it was mine and Ayla's first time because Kurt kept forgetting about it when it came around. He did tell me this year but I didn't write it down. So my fault but then on Thursday, Kurt had forgotten they were coming and called me and I had to get us ready in 20 minutes. Amazingly I did it. I showered and everything. That is why I insist on having short hair, so I can get ready in a short amount of time.

They had it in their warehouse. Here is Kurt with Ayla waiting for Sea World to show up with the animals.

Kurt let Ayla take a picture with the camera, so this is the picture she took of me. Her first picture, I am so proud!

Now on with the animals:

This little ball that looks like a cantaloupe is an armadillo.

I really like the armadillo. I thought it was cute.

Next they brought out this crazy looking bird called a Screamer. They scream to attract the females.

Ayla looking at the crazy bird. We were on the front row because we got there early.

Next they brought out a bush baby. I thought this was a cute animal but the guy said they paint things with their urine. Gross. Still cute though.

I don't remember what this bird's name was. It was spoon beak something because it's beak was in the shape of a spoon. It smelled like fish. Yuck! I could smell it from where we were sitting.

Then they brought out a baby alligator. He was 5 months old.

I thought he was cute. I love baby alligators. I drew one once.

Then they brought out a large one.

The two alligators together.

He wasn't too big but he was big enough.

They let the kids come up and touch him. It made me nervous to have my child right next to this beast. I touched it too. I was curious.

They also let them touch the crazy looking bird.

As we were leaving, I had to take a picture of this. It was hanging up in the hall. Kurt was awarded the Rock Star award at his work for doing something above and beyond the call of duty at work. They had a big Kick off meeting a while back and the theme was, "Access rocks!" They had employees competing with each other with the game Rock Band for the entertainment. Awesome huh? Like I said Kurt's work is awesome.

Cool, yet scary! Have I ever mentioned that crocodiles and alligators kind of freak me out? Not in the same way that midgets and balloons do, but let's just say I have a healthy respect for what they are capable of. Sorry about the rant, Yes, your hubby's work rocks. That is really cool, and it looks like the kids were mesmerized by the live animals!

Holy Cow! That was so awesome for his work to do that! I would have been creeped out at first, but curiosity would have taken over! Too Fun! -Suzanne

That's so COOL! Unfortunately Derrick's work never does anything like that (it's a zoo, with all those pre-teens running around anyhow) or, maybe they do and he just doesn't tell me! I think I better ask him to let me know if they have a cool assembly planned....maybe I've been missing out on all kinds of fun stuff?
I bet Ayla had a blast, so FUN!

Wow! That is so neat that you got that experience. Not an everyday happening for sure.
I read the post above and it would have been kind of scary to be so close to the Alligator. I had no idea they didn't eat that often.

So cool!
